What does this app do in Odoo 19?

NexGen Gantt Base is the technical foundation for the entire NexGen Gantt suite. It ships the reusable interactive Gantt client, polish controls, saved layouts, and exchange gateway used by Project, Manufacturing, Sales, Inventory, Purchase, Time Off, Field Service, and companion apps.

Technical name: syn_gantt_base. Depends on: Odoo Base, Web.

Works with both Community and Enterprise editions (also Odoo.sh and on-premise)
Server-authoritative schedule writes with native ACLs

Which Odoo versions / editions are supported?

This module targets Odoo 19 and works with both Community and Enterprise editions, including Odoo.sh and on-premise deployments.

Do I need Odoo Enterprise Gantt?

No. NexGen Gantt is a standalone interactive Gantt suite built on standard Odoo Web. It does not require Enterprise Gantt.

Who publishes and supports this app?

Does Gantt invent workflow states like Confirm / Done / Approve?

No. NexGen Gantt is safety-first: adapters write schedule/planning fields only. Native Odoo forms and buttons remain the source of truth for workflow.

Are writes protected by ACLs and record rules?

Yes. Timeline reads and writes use the current user’s access rights. There is no sudo bypass for business data.

What happens if two users edit at the same time?

Optimistic concurrency checks apply. With NexGen Gantt Collaboration installed, presence chips and edit locks further reduce collisions.

Which time scales are available?

Hour, Day, Week, Month, Quarter and Year, with zoom in/out, reset zoom and zoom-to-fit.

Can I save my preferred Gantt layout?

Yes. Saved layouts store scale and polish options per user so you can reload your preferred view quickly.

What export formats are available?

Common formats include PDF, PNG, XLSX and JSON. Depending on the installed suite exchange gateway, XML/XER and optional admin-gated iCal may also be available.

Is the UI mobile / tablet friendly?

The shared chrome is responsive. For the best phone/tablet experience install NexGen Gantt Mobile (compact toolbar, touch drag, optional PWA).

Can AI help me reschedule?

Install NexGen Gantt AI Planner. It supports natural-language intents with preview-first apply through adapter validators.

How do I get the full suite at once?

Install NexGen Gantt All-in-One. It pulls Base, all business adapters, Collaboration, AI Planner and Mobile.

Is multi-company supported?

Yes, within normal Odoo multi-company rules. Users only see and edit records allowed by their company and record rules.

Will uninstalling remove my Odoo business data?

Uninstalling a Gantt module removes the module’s menus/actions/helpers. Native Project/MRP/Sales/etc. business records remain.

What is NexGen Gantt Base?

It is the shared OWL foundation used by every NexGen Gantt adapter: timeline engine, polish controls, saved layouts, export/import exchange and a Foundation Demo.

Does Base schedule Project or Manufacturing records by itself?

No. Base provides the engine and demo timeline. Install the matching adapter (or All-in-One) for business schedules.

What is the Foundation Demo?

A safe demo timeline under the Gantt menu for training, smoke tests and exploring scales, zoom, static mode and layouts before installing adapters.

Which apps does Base depend on?

Only Odoo Base and Web.

What is Static mode?

A read-only review mode that prevents accidental drag/resize while you present or audit a plan.

What are shift labels?

On the hour scale, the timeline can show shift-oriented labels to make shop-floor / day planning clearer.

Is there an unscheduled tray?

Yes — adapters can show records without dates in a tray so you can drop them onto the timeline.

Does Base include a load histogram?

It provides histogram scaffolding used by resource adapters (for example Project, MRP and FSM).

Can I import schedules?

Validated create-only import helpers are available for supported adapters. Existing records are not silently overwritten.

Is keyboard navigation supported?

Yes — common shortcuts include arrows, Enter and T for today.

Is Base required for every adapter?

Yes. Business adapters and companions depend on syn_gantt_base.

Does Base change standard Odoo models heavily?

No. It is designed as a shared client foundation plus exchange helpers, without inventing business workflow states.

Can I use Base alone in production?

You can keep it for the demo/engine, but production planning usually needs at least one business adapter.

How do I upgrade Base safely?

Update the module from Apps after backing up. Then upgrade dependent adapters if their versions also changed.
