FAQ

Which Odoo versions / editions are supported?

This module targets Odoo 19 and works with both Community and Enterprise editions, including Odoo.sh and on-premise deployments.

Do I need Odoo Enterprise Gantt?

No. NexGen Gantt is a standalone interactive Gantt suite built on standard Odoo Web. It does not require Enterprise Gantt.

Who publishes and supports this app?

Does Gantt invent workflow states like Confirm / Done / Approve?

No. NexGen Gantt is safety-first: adapters write schedule/planning fields only. Native Odoo forms and buttons remain the source of truth for workflow.

Are writes protected by ACLs and record rules?

Yes. Timeline reads and writes use the current user’s access rights. There is no sudo bypass for business data.

What happens if two users edit at the same time?

Optimistic concurrency checks apply. With NexGen Gantt Collaboration installed, presence chips and edit locks further reduce collisions.

Which time scales are available?

Hour, Day, Week, Month, Quarter and Year, with zoom in/out, reset zoom and zoom-to-fit.

Can I save my preferred Gantt layout?

Yes. Saved layouts store scale and polish options per user so you can reload your preferred view quickly.

What export formats are available?

Common formats include PDF, PNG, XLSX and JSON. Depending on the installed suite exchange gateway, XML/XER and optional admin-gated iCal may also be available.

Is the UI mobile / tablet friendly?

The shared chrome is responsive. For the best phone/tablet experience install NexGen Gantt Mobile (compact toolbar, touch drag, optional PWA).

How do I get the full suite at once?

Install NexGen Gantt All-in-One. It pulls Base, all business adapters, Collaboration, AI Planner and Mobile.

Is multi-company supported?

Yes, within normal Odoo multi-company rules. Users only see and edit records allowed by their company and record rules.

Will uninstalling remove my Odoo business data?

Uninstalling a Gantt module removes the module’s menus/actions/helpers. Native Project/MRP/Sales/etc. business records remain.

Do I need an OpenAI, Claude, or Gemini key?

No. The default rule engine runs locally. OpenAI, Claude, and Gemini are optional and fall back to rules if unavailable.

Which modules does AI support?

Project, Manufacturing (MO/WO), Sales, Purchase, Inventory, Field Service and Time Off when those adapters are installed.

Can AI confirm orders or approve leave?

No. It only proposes schedule field changes and never invents workflow states.

Is preview mandatory?

Yes — preview is the default path; apply requires explicit confirmation.

What intents are supported?

Common intents include delay, move, set duration and reschedule-after style requests.

Does AI bypass ACLs?

No. It operates on visible records and applies through the same validators/ACLs as manual edits.

What is the provider badge?

It shows which engine handled the plan: local rule engine, OpenAI, Claude, or Gemini.

Can AI cascade successor changes?

Preview can show primary and cascade impacts before you apply.

What if validation fails on apply?

The change is rejected with a clear message; invalid plans are not forced.

How do I enable OpenAI, Claude, or Gemini?

Go to Settings → General Settings → NexGen Gantt AI. Choose OpenAI, Claude (Anthropic), or Gemini (Google), then enter the API key and optional model / base URL.

Is there a max records limit?

Yes — a configurable max records per plan protects performance and safety.

Does AI post chatter notes?

Successful applies can leave an audit note in chatter.

Does Collaboration block AI writes?

AI respects locks/concurrency; locked records by another session are not silently overwritten.

Can AI invent project stages or MO states?

Never. Workflow fields stay native.
